The Better French Fry

I love fries. I mean, is there really even anyone that doesn’t? How wonderful is it that from a lumpy, dirt-covered root comes something so warm, crispy, chewy, and delicious. For me, sweet potato fries is taking the average fry to the next level – that’s why they are always extra when you eat out – right?

I started making these sweet potato fries at home years ago. The recipe and technique has certainly evolved over the years and I truly believe they just keep getting better. My husband and I often pair these fries with Chili Lime Chicken burgers for a care-free and satisfying meal. The only downside is that there’s really never any leftovers….which may also be a strong indicator that we’re doing something right.

This is the best combination I have yet to experiment with:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. I typically use two potatoes per person – even at that, it seems like I can never make enough. Rinse sweet potatoes and cut into thin (about a ¼ inch) “sticks.” Spread out evenly on a cookie sheet and drizzle with olive oil or melted coconut oil. Sprinkle with sea salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Trader Joe’s 21 Seasoning Salute.

Put the seasoned sweet potatoes into the preheated oven and leave them alone for 20-25 minutes. Once the timer goes off, take the fries out of the oven and sprinkle with parmesan flakes. If you’re feeling extra gourmet, squeeze fresh lime juice over the whole pan.

Now you have your very own sweet potato fries whenever your heart desires – straight from the oven, not the freezer, and they’re not extra.

You’ll Need:

Sweet Potatoes ( 2 per person)

Olive Oil

Sea Salt

Pepper

Garlic Powder

Onion Powder

Trader Joe’s 21 Seasoning Salute

Parmesan (optional)

Lime Juice (optional)
