It all started the summer after my sophomore year in high school. I wanted something to occupy my time for the next few months and, let’s be honest, cash in my wallet. I started applying for summer jobs at any place that was brave enough to consider a 16 year old for hire. A few weeks passed without much luck when desperation and wounded confidence led me to the yellow tea house down the street from my parent’s house. I dropped off my unimpressive resume consisting of “Babysitter, 2007 – Present” with little expectations of anyone taking a chance on me. One day later, I received a call for an interview for later that afternoon. Twenty minutes after my interview I was offered a job as a dishwasher of which I excitedly accepted. I rode my bike to the tea house all summer and quickly moved from the kitchen to the dining room and from Lipton black tea to a world of flavors and blends only Harney & Sons could master.
The Sweet Shalom Tea House in Sylvania, Ohio became my haven for the next four years. While life chapters opened, closed, and changed, the little yellow house down the street remained the same and instilled in me the ability to recognize and honor an exquisite cup of tea. Over seven years have passed since the tea house took a chance on me and while many things have continued to change, my love for Harney & Sons tea has remained. Although I believe every season is tea season, here are two of my personal favorite Harney & Sons teas for autumn:

Hot Cinnamon Sunset: “A remarkably assertive tea.” This tea is my go-to dessert tea and cure for my sweet tooth cravings. Made with hand picked Chinese black tea, cinnamon, sweet cloves, and orange peel, I have yet to find anything that shouts autumn as magnificently as this blend of flavors. Spicy, and sweet, rich and satisfying – you haven’t truly experienced autumn to it’s fullest until you’ve indulged in this guilt-free tea.
Pumpkin Spice: “An herbal celebration of harvest time. A masterful blend of pumpkin and warming spices.” This herbal tea is warm and earthy with subtle accents of the spices we all look forward to this time of year: Rooibos, natural pumpkin flavor, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg – that’s it, no reading between the lines, just pure, delicious goodness. Rooibos tea comes from the leaves of the South African Redbush and has a vibrant amber hue when brewed. Brew with boiling water for five minutes and enjoy the nostalgic aroma and flavor, fantastic for misty mornings and crisp evenings.
